Ripley (Limited Series) – April 4

Following the tremendous success of All of Us Strangers, Andrew Scott stars in Netflix’s newest limited series Ripley. Based on the acclaimed novel, The Talented Mr. Ripley, by Patricia Highsmith, Netflix’s new series is the second major adaptation of the book, following Matt Damon’s 1999 feature film. Directed by Steven Zaillian, with cinematography by Robert Elswit, Ripley looks to be one of Netflix’s most stunning projects in years. Shot in beautiful black and white, Ripley accentuates the tense, thrilling story of endless deception at the novel’s core. Ripley streams directly on Netflix on April 4.

Dinosaur (Season 1) – April 5

Hulu’s Dinosaur could be the dark-horse comedy hit of the year. The show follows an autistic woman in her 30s, with a love of dinosaurs and an adoration for living with her sister. However, her life is quickly turned around when her sister gets engaged after six weeks of dating a man. Dinosaur actually premiered back in 2021 with a successful TV short airing on the BBC. The series was quickly picked up for a full season run following its success. Dinosaur will stream directly on Disney+ (UK) and Hulu (US) on April 5.

Sugar (Limited Series) – April 5

Colin Farrell’s eclectic career is taking a dive into the crime genre. Farrell plays John Sugar, a private detective investigating the disappearance of Olivia Seagal, the granddaughter of famous Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegal. Apple TV+ have had an amazing run of TV successes recently, with Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Lessons in Chemistry, and Silo all being smash-hits for the growing streamer. Alongside Farrell, Sugar features an amazing cast, with names like Amy Ryan, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and James Cromwell all starring in the show. Sugar streams directly on Apple TV+ on April 5.

Fallout (Season 1) – April 11

Prime Video’s Fallout series is the most anticipated video game adaptation of the year. Following the success of shows like The Last of Us, Arcane, and Castlevania, Fallout is looking to maintain the notion that TV is the new home of video game adaptations. Set in an alternate version of Earth ravaged by nuclear war, Fallout tells the story of three survivors from three vastly different backgrounds, as they struggle against the 1950s inspired irradiated wasteland. With a killer soundtrack (expect a lot of your gran’s favourite songs to appear), an incredible cast (Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, Kyle MacLachlan, Aaron Clifton Moten, and Matt Berry), and Westworld‘s Jonathan Nolan (the brother of Christopher Nolan) at the helm, Fallout has the potential to be the best show of 2024. Fallout detonates towards Prime Video on April 11.

But in the meantime, the occult God Neil Gaiman has gifted audiences with Dead Boy Detectives. Set in the same universe as The Sandman, Dead Boy Detectives follows two teenage ghosts who team up with a clairvoyant to solve the problems of their undead clients. Expect the series to be filled with all the wacky, zany, and British goodness that has made Gaiman such a beloved writer. Dead Boy Detectives will be solving cases on Netflix on April 25.
