Do you have an encyclopaedic knowledge of a certain franchise, a hot take on a popular video game, or are you just really passionate about your fandom, then we have something in common.
We provide a platform for writers to share what they truly love with the world. We love hearing from experienced writers who’ve got a killer story that they’ve never had the chance to share and we’re always open to pitches from new & upcoming writers, looking to get their foot in the door of the entertainment industry.
What We’re Looking For:
At Film School Dropouts, we pride ourselves on quality. We love reading and writing detailed analyses of the franchises that bring us together.
If you can provide any of the following then we want to hear from you:
- In-Depth Articles
- We’re passionate about learning at Film School Dropouts. Do you have an unknown piece of information about a certain IP, or an insight into the history of a certain franchise or industry? Share it with us.
- Opinion Pieces
- Individual voices and opinions are what make this community so amazing. It’s true that some fans take their negative opinions too far (and we don’t want that). But if you disagree with a popular opinion, or have thoughts on a film, game, or anime that hasn’t been publicized, share it with us.
- Essays
- As mentioned, we love learning. We love hearing new voices and new ideas. If you can communicate your ideas in an informally formal format (like what we did there) then share it with us.
What we DON’T Want:
- Clickbait
- Everyone hates it. False promises and low-quality articles. They waste everyone’s time.
- Hate
- It’s impossible to love EVERY franchise, but be civil. If you disagree with a popular opinion or want to write a negative article, that’s okay, but we don’t tolerate hate. Keep your pieces professional and polite. We don’t want Why I HATE the Star Wars Sequels, we want, Where the Star Wars Sequels Fell Short. There’s a big distinction.
Remuneration:
Sadly, as an independantly run site, we cannot currently offer financial remuneration for posts… yet. But our goal is to grow and we want to be able to provide this for our writers. So why not grow with us?
Requirements:
- Word Count
- Our stories usually run at about 800-1400 words. We don’t have a maximum word count. If you can write paragraph after paragraph on your chosen topic while keeping it on-topic, detailed, and engaging, then we encourage it.
- Plagiarism
- It really should go without saying, but we only want original articles. Please don’t pitch or write an article that have been published elsewhere.
- AI
- Just like every other reputable publication on the internet, we have a strict No-AI stance. We run all submissions through an AI checker before publishing. The use of AI only damages a website’s SEO, directly affecting the hard work that everyone at Film School Dropouts team has put in.
- Language
- All pieces should be written in clear and concise (UK) English.
- Obscenity
- Any pitches promoting or containing links to gambling sites, pornography, abuse & discrimination will be immediately dismissed.
- Personal Links
- Feel free to include a link or two to your own blog/portfolio in your author bio, which will feature at the end of the article.
