I started this website just under a year ago as a way of bolstering out my portfolio as a freelance writer. Since that time, the articles I have written as an excuse to explore some of my favourite films, shows and anime have been read by thousands of people across the world. 2024 is the year The Insightful Nerd begins to grow, both through its content and, hopefully, through the size of our team.

The goal for The Insightful Nerd is to become a go-to place for cinematic analysis and exploration. That’s why we’ve set goals for 2024 to help us grow, and to provide more amazing content for our readers to enjoy.

Here are our plans for 2024:

Reviews

Reviews are a staple of any cinema based website and we want to throw our hat in the ring. There seems to be an ever growing disconnect between audiences and critics, especially in regards to major blockbusters and franchises. We may miss a film or two (but hopefully not) as we try and contend with the endless wave of content being produced by the industry at the moment, but our reviews will always be the honest perspective of the stationed writer.

You may love a review we’ve written, or you may wholeheartedly disagree, and that’s absolutely fine. We want to know. All our articles and our reviews have a comments section to let you share your voice because, without open discussion, what’s the point.

All upcoming reviews will be posted as close to the release date as possible. Once our site grows, we may gain access to press screenings, meaning our reviews can go live as soon as the review embargos end. We also want to take a look back in time and review classic movies, although these will typically surround an important milestone or anniversary for each film, respectively.

Interviews

This is another major goal for us in 2024. Getting an inside look into the filmmaking process and hearing first hand from actors, directors, writers, and everyone involved is a joy like no other for film fans – thank god for the end of the SAG-AFTRA strikes.

The Insightful Nerd will be looking to conduct interviews with as many amazingly talented stars as possible, including industry veterans, A-listers, and rising talent. Ideally, these will be longer-form interviews, of around 30 minutes or more, as opposed to the typical press junket format as this allows or a more open and fluid conversation.

Festivals

Our final goal for 2024 is to attend many film festivals and events. Of course, this isn’t limited to cinema and, knowing how nerdy our team are, will also include Anime Expos and Comic-Cons. We aim to work our way up to becoming a mainstay at major world festivals like Cannes, Venice and San-Diego Comic-Con, among many others.
